Among the Northern Silt Dunes

Northern Silt Dunes (#7/30; #250/365)

Possibly the dusty delta of a long-dead river-system, the Northern Silt Dunes are a desolate wasteland of fine red sand; a cold near-trackless hell smothered in clouds of gritty mist and ochre fog that produces no moisture or precipitation. Out here, lone creatures may flap through the sky, or burrow beneath the dunes, while vexatious dust spirits dance across the lone and level sands or swoop through the low-hanging clouds in nebulous fury.

Lonely caravan trails lead north across the desert, followed by convoys of itinerant traders, whether they be Fiends shepherding fly-blown herds of Wudrefmik beasts, Vorpit tinkers and fixers, or Qagdin fungus merchants hawking mushroom wares. 

Rumour has it, that out there in the desolation is a gigantic crater, the remains of an enormous chunk of Sky Metal that fell from another Plane and crashed into the desert. Slowly corroding due to the toxicity of this Plane's atmosphere, the immense meteor is being frantically mined by Vorpits and Fiends, eager to get their claws on this rare and valuable metal.

This work is overseen by a rogue Venom Demon warlord, Gabonika the Objector (muscular, vain). Exiled from the southern cities, Gabonika is eager to build a new empire out here amongst the crimson sands. However, Time Demon scouts from the Plane of Platinum are actively searching for the meteor in their air chariots, under the leadership of the militant Storm Demon Mar-Malthus (wrinkled, humble) and conflict between the two forces is imminent!
