Utterly corrupting the souls of those who foolishly choose to wear it...

Chaos Talisman (#24/31, #24/365) [EA:V2] (Enchanted Item)

This pendant is worn around one's neck and takes the form of a ring of black metal etched with runes such as the Chaos Circle, and demonic sigils. The Chaos Talisman allows for remarkable powers of persuasion; if worn assume a +4 bonus to all leadership and social Special Skills test, such as Leadership, Con, Bargain and Morale rolls. However, once worn it cannot be removed, and, after a week, the wearer will be branded with a Chaos rune in the form of a tattoo on a random body part. After two weeks of wearing the Chaos Talisman, the wearer will also acquire a random Chaos Mutation (see Encyclopedia Arcana: Volume 1, p. 57).

All of these afflictions can be removed with the successful Banish power of the priest, but it will require the application of one Banishing per affliction (i.e. one Banish to remove the amulet, one Banish to remove the Chaos Tattoo and one Banish to remove the Chaos Mutation), and each Banish opposed roll will be made against the SKILL of the Chaos Talisman's wearer. The Chaos Talisman can also be removed if its wearer is killed; it will then remain inert until placed around the neck of another victim.

Chaos Talismans are used by Evil cults and beings to sow discord in more stable Goodly nations and communities; a Chaos Inquisitor used one to enthrall the village of Tallow in Ruddlestone, while others, such the Chaos Beast Lord Murgrim the Cruel used a Chaos Talisman to command his ragged horde of Beast Men in the service of Belgaroth the Usurper.
