Manglewort (#15/31, #15/365) [TTHA]

Appearance: This is a low-lying herb with tiny green leaves, and a small circular pale blue flower, with a short, stumpy, starchy root.

Distribution: Mountains across Allansia, but especially the Icefinger Mountains of northern Allansia, and even then, only during spring.

Effects: Manglewort is an insect repellent; when a root is crushed, no insect will approach the bearer of the herb, effectively creating an insect-free (Giant or normal-sized) barrier three metres in radius around the bearer. The root's effects last for up to thirty minutes, or until dispersed by wind or a stronger smell.

Notes: The artificer Jadan Fam was reputed to be the only person who knew where to find sprigs of Manglewort herb in the Icefinger Mountains. He would craft Silver Dragonfly Pendants dipped in juice from crushed Manglewort root, to create potent enchanted insect repellents.
