A Tavern of Dust Town

The Sandworm's Tooth (Tavern) (#6/30; #96/365)

Carved out from the inside of a sun-dried Giant Sandworm carcass over thirty metres long, this rough and ready tavern (Poor Quality) is on the edge of the Trappers' Market, and, as well as the ubiquitous monster-hunters, attracts all other sorts - Desert Nomads, inhuman tribesfolk, Goblin smiths, armoured mercenaries, and hard-bitten prospectors. Such a raucous crowd is typically found carousing on cheap liquor and gambling on games as varied as Pinfinger and Orc Eye. In addition, the Autarch's henchmen often drink here when off-duty, so trouble is rare (or common, depending).

The tavernkeep is a retired Black Elf miner, Chalantana (unkempt, humble), who, legend has it, struck it big in the western uplands and discovered a hidden valley whose clay floor was paved with emeralds. They then used the proceeds to buy their favourite tavern, the Sandworm's Tooth, from its previous proprietor, an old Nomad with serious gambling debts to pay off. Chalantana is a wealth of knowledge about the trials and tribulations of prospecting in the badlands, for a price of course.

Drinks available include Pellod's Pride (invariably watered down), Guursh, grog, and Sidiki (a clear, mind-erasing local spirit made from fermented dates and then double distilled). The local delicacy is Sandworm steak, "carved from the very walls of this here tavern", or so the legends say (actually, it is sourced from fresh dead Sandworm meat brought to Dust Town by Desert Nomads). While the various Sandworm teeth scattered around the tavern as ornamentation may look real, they are actually all painted clay fakes. There is however one real Sandworm's Tooth dagger on the premises, and that is in the possession of Chalantana themself, with which they use to threaten troublemakers.
