Titan is rife with all kinds of carnivorous plant-life, some of it caused by the contamination of Chaos, and some of it caused by the machinations of evil spirits, such as the WILLOW WEIRD. This appears as a particularly gnarled and twisted old weeping willow tree, growing on the banks of a sluggish river or limpid pool. Anyone who ventures within three metres of the Willow Weird will feel strangely sleepy, as if they are about to topple into the water, and must Test for Luck. Those who fail will struggle to tear themselves away from the water, and a gentle and soothing voice will suggest they should fall into a peaceful sleep. They will feel nothing as they enter the water as they have now been charmed by the Willow Weird, which will thrash them with its branches as they sink beneath the surface, causing 2-12 STAMINA points of damage.
If they survive this (or if they successfully Test their Luck in the first place), the pain will shock them out of their reverie, and looking up they will see two large green eyes staring out from the trunk of the willow. The strange plant creature will then attack with its whip-like branches. Willow Weirds are relatively cowardly however, and will cease attacking if they suffer 8 STAMINA points of damage, giving a low moan and pulling its branches back from combat. They are also highly susceptible to fire-based attacks, which will cause them double STAMINA damage. The sap of a Willow Weird is reputed to have enchanted properties, but if it is slain by fire there will be no magical sap to collect!
Sap of the Willow Weird (#5/29, #65/365) [EA:V2] (Potion)
The Sap of the Willow Weird (a gnarled and twisted variant of a typical weeping Willow tree; see The Titan Herbal Addendum, p. XX) is renowned for its curative properties. If collected in a vial and applied to an open wound, it will restore 4 STAMINA points of damage.
